Ridango Case Study
Ridango is developing IT-solutions for public transport with focus on Automated Fare Collection, Real-Time Passenger Information and Automatic Vehicle Location solutions. The core competencies of Ridango are deep knowledge in transit ticketing, agility in delivery and building state of the art ticketing solutions together with our customers, that serve their mission: Help millions of people to travel simply and seamlessly.
Ridango was looking for a fast-track to embed contactless EMV payment capabilities into one of its fare collection products. The hardware of the device was already engineered according to EMV Level 1 requirements, the only thing missing was the low-level implementation of EMV Level 2 requirements. Although, possible to implement by Ridango itself, the possibility to use a third party component that has already implemented all the low-level communication between the card and reader proved to be more cost effective.
How NMI helped
NMI helped to pick the right technology direction and advised in integrating the EMV library to the existing embedded software architecture, considering all the constraints and specifics of the hardware-software platform used.
“The vast knowledge and experience about regulatory requirements, certification process and real-life technical and certification saved the day more than once.” - Alan Rein, VP of Product at Ridango
The vast knowledge and experience about regulatory requirements, certification process and real-life technical and certification saved the day more than once. Together with NMI and certification labs, Ridango was able to achieve the desired results much faster.
Ridango continues to develop and enhance the portfolio of Account-based Ticketing (ABT) and Real-Time solutions (AVL/RTPI), including new models of contactless EMV ticketing validators. 2019 looks promising, as extra to the existing contactless EMV ticketing customers, we expect to launch new projects in different geographies.
Thanks to NMI, Ridango is at the forefront of adopting open loop payments and got there much faster, compared to the in-house development option.
